The following information is not canon to Guild Wars 2 lore and has instead been created in-order to “fill the gaps”. Until ArenaNet provides us more info, the warband will follow this information in regards to the erotic.
Heat
Much like other mammalians, female charr go into a monthly cycle called “heat”. Every one to two months, a female charr will enter heat for three to six days. During this time she is highly alert, inquisitive, and affectionate. Her ability to smell increases dramatically and she can discern another charr’s scent from up to 50 feet away. A scent gland underneath their jaws begins to produce pheromones during this time that attract other charr regardless if they are male or female. Females also tend to lose their sense of appetite during this time.
Unlike females, Males are constantly sexually active. However, this does not mean that they are “horny” at all times. In fact, horniness from male charr mostly comes from the pheromones of a female passing by. There are times however when a male’s personal scent or “musk” becomes overwhelming even to a charr not in heat. This is usually caused by an odd spike in testosterone in the charr's body.
Sexuality
Because both males and females produce an attractive type of scent, it is not uncommon for homosexual couplings to occur and neither are they looked down upon. The culture sees it as an easy way to solve a “problem” without the “consequences”. This also results in most charr being bi-sexual and having multiple partners. Mating for life is surprisingly the rarity among charr.
Pregnancy
If a female charr mates repetitively with a male or multiple males while she is in heat, there are two possibilities. Either she will become pregnant or she will have a false pregnancy where she displays similar signs, but is not actually pregnant.
Charr pregnancy can last up to four months but is generally three months long. Besides the length of time, a charr’s pregnancy is much the same as a human’s. At first, they are easily irritated and tend to eat far more than normal. As the pregnancy progresses, the female’s six mammary glands, once flat against the chest, begin to gradually swell in size. Charr have been known to produce in litters that can range in size from 1-6 cubs depending on several outside factors that include; food supply, replenishing ranks, and ease of living. Most commonly litters are 1-3 cubs each. It is highly rare, for a female to produce a litter of 5 or 6 outside of severe wartime.
After the litter is born, they drink their mother’s milk until weened at about two to three months of age. Between the age of one to two years, depending on the cub’s readiness for learning and battle, the cubs enter the fahrar. There have been some rare cases in which cubs do not enter a fahrar until after three years, but this is mainly due to their parents being on extended away missions.
